the agitating water

In many places from the mountain hillside to the coast an almost still standing flow appears in the river which sometimes creates a whirl, a stretch of smooth water,in Swedish called " sel ".
These “ stretches” has created an own room, a special place in the landscape,a turning space and a natural meeting point.
After several years stay by the long valley of Vindelälven
I have given many thoughts to the people which was resident at this places. The settler who walked here for the first time,and the importance of living by the water.What where the criteria for choosing location of a settlement?
These places became villages and societies in the northern landscape of Sweden, places which today are reducing and emptied. The environment and the landscape is still the same. What are the criterias of today?
Along the Vindelälven there are several villages where the Swedish word for a stretch of smooth water (sel) comes with the place name. This exhibition was created as a celebration to eight of this villages.

in the grey coloured sand

clearly defined in a constant

vanishing horizon

 

 

The connected surfaces

with adjoining colours

in the changeover

Becomes in the strong light

a description of an edginess

for just a moment enlightened

A fragmentary forgetfulness

with no landscape at all
